Friday Obsession: 50 Shades

So, this post has very little to do with beauty products but my absolute obsession this week has come in the form of a book. I am currently reading, and loving, 50 Shades of Grey. Heard of it? It's one of the most buzzed about books out right now and it certainly delivers. It's incredibly intense and dark and I absolutely can not put it down. Do yourselves a favor and pick this book up ASAP and be prepared to do absolutely nothing for the next few days. I promise it won't disappoint.

Cover Girl Lash Blast Mascara Review

For a little while now I have been reading and hearing about what an amazing mascara Cover Girl Lash Blast is. I was told of the “volumizing, big lash” look I would achieve with 1-2 coats of this affordable mascara. With, what seems like, new mascara coming out weekly I was suspicious of these claims. I have heard many declarations like this one in the past, only to be disappointed after purchasing the product. But I knew I would never know if this mascara was “the one” without trying it.

I went down to my local Walgreens, purchased the mascara (waterproof), and went home to begin my very intense and very scientific testing. By that I mean I went home and applied two coats of the mascara to my eyelashes and observed. As you can see it was a very serious test 

I must say that I was definitely, pleasantly surprised by the results. My lashes did look thicker and more volumous. I have long eyelashes and sometimes mascara doesn’t hold the curl all day and this one definitely did. The lightweight mascara didn’t seem to weigh my lashes down like other brands I have tried in the past. The brush design seemed genius to me because it evenly coated my lashes without making them super goopey. At first glance this mascara doesn’t seem like it can do wonders for your eyes, but my experience says it did wonders for my eyes!

The only thing I did not like about Cover Girl Lash Blast was, when dry, the formula becomes stiff on your eyelashes. My personal preference when shopping for mascara is to create soft and full lashes. This mascara almost hit the nail on the head but fell short at the finish line!

Friday: Obsession

So… I went a little crazy this week with the online beauty purchases (o.k. maybe really crazy) and I have been waiting as patiently as possible (admittedly not that patient) for them to arrive in the mail. At this point almost all of the packages have arrived, including my Urban Decay: Naked2 palate, Tarte: Amazonian Clay Gift Set, and various, and totally awesome, Mac products. I am, however, still waiting on a few miscellaneous makeup products and my bottle of WEN Cleansing Conditioner by Chaz Dean. I am absolutely in love with this product, which is why it is my Friday: Obsession this week. This cleansing conditioner replaces your shampoo, conditioner, leave- in conditioner, deep conditioner, and detangler leaving your hair full of volume and more than manageable. After using this product styling my some-what-straight/some-what-curly hair/ always-kind of-crazy hair is a breeze.

So, in anticipation, I wake up this morning thinking, “Today should be the day the rest of my haul gets here (insert ridiculously large smile here).” Like any true beauty addict, I check my email and start tracking my packages immediately. Nothing seems to bring my obsessive-ness out quite like online shopping! As I am reading through my mail I come across the smile stealing, gut wrenching, dream thieving email that states, “We’re sorry. Your shipment has been delayed 1-2 days.” WHAT?? DELAYED?? Now for the average person this may not mean much; perhaps a quick roll of the eyes, a negative thought of the postal system, and on to the next email. But for me, it is far more dramatic. For I know this simple email means I have to wait another 2 days for my hair to be UNBELIEVABLY soft and shiny. I have to wait for my scalp and hair to be refreshed and rejuvenated like no other shampoo/conditioner has done for me. It means I have to wait another 2 days for my hair obsession to be relieved. SO NOT FAIR!!

Although I know I will survive the next few days without my WEN, it certainly doesn’t stop me from wishing there would be a postal service miracle today

I Love to be Naked2

Urban Decay's newest palate is ahhh-mazing. The palate itself is full of gorgeous neutrals that range from effortless mattes to colors that are full of shimmery goodness, allowing so much versatility. The shadow goes on smooth and lasts all day (although I do wear a Tarte eyelid primer) and can create an enhanced natural or intensely dramatic eye. The choice is up to you! I have yet to find something about this palate that I do not like. Although that usually seems to be the case with Urban Decay products in general. This is definitely a makeup bag must for any makeup lover!
