Get 'em Before They're Gone

My apologies for taking a few days off from blogging. Unfortunately, I haven't been feeling the greatest so, aside from going to work, I have literally done nothing the last few days. OK, maybe I finished the 50 Shades of Grey Trilogy (which ROCKED BTW), but other than that nothing.

Anyways, I received an email this morning from MAC informing me of the latest players to leave the game...FOR GOOD. So, before they are gone, don't forget to grab:

*Jealously Wakes Eyeshadow
*Hocus Pocus Eyeshadow
*Parisian Skies Eyeshadow
*Neo Orange Pigment
*Red Dwarf Pro Longwear Lipcreme
*Caqui Lipglass
*Its a Wow Lipglass
*Petting Pink Lip Conditioner
*Oriele Orange Nail Laquer

Friday Obsession: Getting Right with Our Bodies

We all know that makeup and beauty products can only take us so far. To really look our best, to have radiant skin, and to combat the effects of aging we have to take care of our bodies. There is no instant cure or special product that will achieve these results like eating clean and exercising regularly will. Although many companies will try and convince us that their product will instantly make us more beautiful and healthy, I have come to the conclusion that makeup and beauty products only enhance what we are already working with. This brings me to this Friday’s Obsession: Getting right With Our Bodies.

Personally, I started this year off right with New Year’s Resolutions to take care of myself and become a healthier individual. I knew this resolve would get my skin looking clearer and more glowing, my body would become more toned, and day by day I would begin reducing my stress and impending aging. I lasted a few months going strong and the inevitable happened for me: I became lazy! The last few weeks I have been entirely off the beam. I stopped caring about what I have been eating and have not made it to the gym once (which I do PAY to go to.) So it is time to GET RIGHT!! I have officially rededicated myself to getting my body healthy so that I can reap the benefits of doing so. To me this means making healthier choices about the food I eat (I never last on any crazy diets) and doing my very best to make it to the gym at least 3 times a week. These, I know, are not outlandish goals and can easily be achieved with a little dedication and motivation. And the truth is once I get in the groove I not only feel better, I look better.

I believe this idea of treating my body with love and attention is the best beauty product I can use. The rest are just awesome bonuses that are so fun to play with!!

Mastering the Nude Lip

I absolutely love an intense eye and an understated, nude lip combination. It’s dramatic and sexy; yet you don’t look overdone and clown-ish. At first glance, the nude lip can seem easy. You might say to yourself, “I’ll just use a nude lip gloss and that will do the trick.” But if you want your pout to last you’re going to have to add a little more effort.

What you will need:
Exfoliator
Lip Conditioner (I will be using Cherry Chapstick)
Mac Honey Love Matte Lipstick
Mac C-Thru Lipglass

Steps:
First, you need to exfoliate your lips, removing any dry skin.
Next, you will need to apply your lip conditioner.

Now you need to apply your Mac matte, nude lipstick (Honey Love)

Finally, add your Mac lipglass (C-Thru)

Your done!!

Friday Obsession: 50 Shades

So, this post has very little to do with beauty products but my absolute obsession this week has come in the form of a book. I am currently reading, and loving, 50 Shades of Grey. Heard of it? It's one of the most buzzed about books out right now and it certainly delivers. It's incredibly intense and dark and I absolutely can not put it down. Do yourselves a favor and pick this book up ASAP and be prepared to do absolutely nothing for the next few days. I promise it won't disappoint.

Cover Girl Lash Blast Mascara Review

For a little while now I have been reading and hearing about what an amazing mascara Cover Girl Lash Blast is. I was told of the “volumizing, big lash” look I would achieve with 1-2 coats of this affordable mascara. With, what seems like, new mascara coming out weekly I was suspicious of these claims. I have heard many declarations like this one in the past, only to be disappointed after purchasing the product. But I knew I would never know if this mascara was “the one” without trying it.

I went down to my local Walgreens, purchased the mascara (waterproof), and went home to begin my very intense and very scientific testing. By that I mean I went home and applied two coats of the mascara to my eyelashes and observed. As you can see it was a very serious test 

I must say that I was definitely, pleasantly surprised by the results. My lashes did look thicker and more volumous. I have long eyelashes and sometimes mascara doesn’t hold the curl all day and this one definitely did. The lightweight mascara didn’t seem to weigh my lashes down like other brands I have tried in the past. The brush design seemed genius to me because it evenly coated my lashes without making them super goopey. At first glance this mascara doesn’t seem like it can do wonders for your eyes, but my experience says it did wonders for my eyes!

The only thing I did not like about Cover Girl Lash Blast was, when dry, the formula becomes stiff on your eyelashes. My personal preference when shopping for mascara is to create soft and full lashes. This mascara almost hit the nail on the head but fell short at the finish line!

Friday: Obsession

So… I went a little crazy this week with the online beauty purchases (o.k. maybe really crazy) and I have been waiting as patiently as possible (admittedly not that patient) for them to arrive in the mail. At this point almost all of the packages have arrived, including my Urban Decay: Naked2 palate, Tarte: Amazonian Clay Gift Set, and various, and totally awesome, Mac products. I am, however, still waiting on a few miscellaneous makeup products and my bottle of WEN Cleansing Conditioner by Chaz Dean. I am absolutely in love with this product, which is why it is my Friday: Obsession this week. This cleansing conditioner replaces your shampoo, conditioner, leave- in conditioner, deep conditioner, and detangler leaving your hair full of volume and more than manageable. After using this product styling my some-what-straight/some-what-curly hair/ always-kind of-crazy hair is a breeze.

So, in anticipation, I wake up this morning thinking, “Today should be the day the rest of my haul gets here (insert ridiculously large smile here).” Like any true beauty addict, I check my email and start tracking my packages immediately. Nothing seems to bring my obsessive-ness out quite like online shopping! As I am reading through my mail I come across the smile stealing, gut wrenching, dream thieving email that states, “We’re sorry. Your shipment has been delayed 1-2 days.” WHAT?? DELAYED?? Now for the average person this may not mean much; perhaps a quick roll of the eyes, a negative thought of the postal system, and on to the next email. But for me, it is far more dramatic. For I know this simple email means I have to wait another 2 days for my hair to be UNBELIEVABLY soft and shiny. I have to wait for my scalp and hair to be refreshed and rejuvenated like no other shampoo/conditioner has done for me. It means I have to wait another 2 days for my hair obsession to be relieved. SO NOT FAIR!!

Although I know I will survive the next few days without my WEN, it certainly doesn’t stop me from wishing there would be a postal service miracle today

I Love to be Naked2

Urban Decay's newest palate is ahhh-mazing. The palate itself is full of gorgeous neutrals that range from effortless mattes to colors that are full of shimmery goodness, allowing so much versatility. The shadow goes on smooth and lasts all day (although I do wear a Tarte eyelid primer) and can create an enhanced natural or intensely dramatic eye. The choice is up to you! I have yet to find something about this palate that I do not like. Although that usually seems to be the case with Urban Decay products in general. This is definitely a makeup bag must for any makeup lover!
